New York Giants

General Manager: Jerry Reese
Head Coach: Tom Coughlin

The New York Giants were established in 1925 as one of five teams admitted to the NFL. They are the only one of those five that are still in existence today. They currently play in the NFC East.

The team started off strong with three winning season. The third even culminated in an NFL title after the Giants posted the best season in the league. However, their fourth season was a disappointment. Then owner John Mara bought the Detroit Wolverines (mainly to acquire star QB Benny Friedman) and merged the two teams under the Giants name. The plan worked, as the team not only beat a squad of Notre Dame All Stars (in a game that is widely credited as giving professional football its credibility), but went on to post consistent winning records through 1946.

The team dropped out of contention for a brief period in the early 50s, and again after their highly successful 1956 season. After their 1963 season, it was nearly 20 years before the team made it back to the playoffs. In 1982, Bill Parcells took over as the team’s head coach, and by 1986 had the team posting winning seasons once again. Though after Parcells retired following the 1990 season, the team began to struggle once again. 2000 saw the first time in 10 years that the team made it to the Super Bowl. Unfortunately they lost and would not return for another seven years.
